You won't need a DBS check to teach in-person lessons with us. Many of our students are over the age of 16 and parents should always accompany their children during sessions. However, you will need a DBS check to teach online lessons through Tutorful. This will need to be an enhanced background check dated within the last two years.
This being said, even for in-person tuition many parents prefer their tutor to have a DBS check, so we recommend getting one to increase the number of students who will be happy to book with you. We accept recent (within two years) Enhanced DBS checks (or the equivalent in Scotland and Northern Ireland) - simply upload a copy of your certificate or enter your update service details on the profile page DBS section. Tutors must not claim to have a DBS check in their bio without having uploaded a valid certificate.
We’re currently reviewing our background check process and provider, which means that we’re putting all DBS applications with our provider on hold, so we will not currently be able to help set you up a DBS check. This is part of our regular work to ensure that we offer the best service possible.
