We've heard your feedback on our availability feature in the Tutor Dashboard, and have introduced a few new additions to our availability feature!
Here at Tutorful we appreciate that for tutors, being able to efficiently organise your time and lessons is of the utmost importance. As such, we have decided to make some changes to the way you can display your availability to students. This will come in the form of our new calendar feature.
The calendar will contain the following features for tutors:
- View lesson bookings and requests
- View weekly or monthly calendar views allowing you to plan ahead
- Add one-off ‘time-off’ periods where you are unable to teach
- Add one-off availability slots outside of your recurring availability
- Colour coded recurring availability
Recurring availability will still work the same in terms of bookings, but you’ll now be able to view this on your calendar, seen in light blue on the image below.
The calendar will appear on your profile in the following format:
As you can see, you will be able to view your individual lesson bookings on the calendar in a weekly and monthly view.
You can add events to your calendar by using the ‘Add’ button on the top-right corner. This will allow you to add both time-off to your calendar as well as your recurring availability. As seen in the second image, you can enter a reason for your time-off as well as the date and time.
You’ll also have the option to offer ‘one-off’ availability on your calendar, for times when you’re able to offer a one-off slot outside of your recurring availability.
Once you have entered the information as appropriate, you’ll just need to hit save, which will then add the time-off slot to your calendar.
You are also able to set your reoccurring availability on our app - you'll just need to click on the availability option on the bottom bar, where you'll then see your current reoccurring availability. You can then click the edit button in the top right corner to change it as time goes on!
How students will view your availability
Your availability will be broken down into 30-minute slots. These will appear on your profile and when students choose to request a lesson with you.
Students will be able to click on one of the time slots you have marked as available on your calendar. This will allow them to request a lesson starting at the time and date they selected.
When you are unavailable as you are teaching lessons booked through Tutorful, this will appear as 'booked' on your availability calendar to prevent students from requesting lessons when you are already teaching.
Make sure you keep your availability up to date, as students will be able to request lessons with you only at times you are available. We’ll make sure they cannot request lessons during a time you are already tutoring through Tutorful, but mismatched or ignored requests will damage your profile’s visibility. If you are no longer able to take on new students you can set your profile to offline rather than removing all availability selections! Information on how to go offline can be found here.
