Before every online lesson you have through us, we highly recommend performing a browser test. This ensures everything is set up and ready to go for your lesson, and ultimately that you won't have any surprises when you enter the online classroom on the day of your lesson!
Doing a browser test also gives our support team the information we need to help you troubleshoot in the event you do ever have any issues at the time of your lesson. You can find the browser test by heading to the following section of your account:
If you are a student - you need to head to your 'Lessons' tab, view the lesson details of your next online lesson that has been booked, and click 'Join Online Lesson'.
If you are a tutor - head to the top right-hand corner of your dashboard to find the dropdown menu, which will include the option to 'Demo Online Classroom'. This will bring up the below pop-up, where you can click to 'Test My Browser'.
Once you have entered the Browser test page, you will be prompted to check your internet speed, webcam and microphone settings, and that your sound settings will allow you to hear your tutor.
If you are not using a browser that is supported by the online classroom, you will be immediately taken to this page! We thoroughly recommend using either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox as we have found that these browsers run the classroom most efficiently. Clicking on any of the tiles at the bottom of this page will take you to the relevant website to download these browsers for free!
If you are already using a supported browser, that's great! You will then go straight into the internet speed test.
If your internet is fast enough to host the classroom, you can simply go to the next step. If there are issues and it lets you know your internet may not be fast enough to host the classroom, you may need to check your set up to ensure you have the minimum speed of 6Mbps. When it comes to enabling your webcam and microphone, you will likely have a pop-up at the top of your page asking you to allow this on the page! If you ensure this is allowed, you should then be able to see yourself. If you get the following page, then it is likely that you don't have your browser permissions enabled!

The last step to check is that you can hear sounds coming from the classroom, to ensure you will be able to hear your tutor - you should be able to hear a short sound clip, so if you cannot please ensure your volume is turned up!
If everything has successfully been allowed, you will be all set to go for your lesson! From here you can access a demo version of the classroom to familiarise yourself with how everything works, or join your lesson if it is starting soon.
