How do I stop lessons with my tutor?
If you have reached your learning goals or need to take a break from tuition, you can end your current relationship with a tutor through your dashboard.
To stop lessons:
- Log in to your Tutorful account and navigate to ‘Upcoming Lessons’ on the dashboard.
- Select ‘Manage Lesson’ for the tuition relationship you wish to end.
- ‘Manage Tuition’ on the Lesson detail page will allow you to choose your reason for ending tuition with this tutor.
Please ensure your selected reason is accurate. This helps us ensure you have the right support moving forward, whether that’s finding a new match or simply ending lessons for now.
Understanding your options
When you choose to end lessons, you'll see five core categories. Here is a breakdown of what each one means:
1. I have a scheduling conflict
Use this when: Your extracurricular activities, school timetable, or work hours have changed, and you can no longer make your scheduled slot work.
2. I’m switching to a different tutor
Use this when: You feel a different teaching style might suit you better, you’ve found a better match, or you’ve decided to focus on a different subject entirely.
3. It’s too expensive
Use this when: Your budget has changed or you feel the current hourly rate isn't sustainable for the long term.
4. I don’t need tutoring anymore
Use this when: You’ve met your learning goal, you only intended on short-term tuition, or your circumstances have changed.
5. Problems with lessons or tutor
Use this when: You experienced technical issues, you are unhappy with the quality of the teaching, the tutor's reliability, or if a lesson didn't meet your expectations.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will my tutor be upset? Not at all. Tutors understand that students’ needs and schedules change. Providing a clear reason through the platform is the most professional way to conclude your time together.
What happens to my upcoming booked lessons? Once you complete the ‘Stop Lessons’ flow, any future lessons scheduled with that tutor will be automatically cancelled. Please try to do this at least 24 hours in advance to stay within our standard cancellation policy.
Can I come back to the same tutor later? Yes! As long as the tutor is still active on the platform, you can reach out to them again in the future if your circumstances change.
What if I have unspent credit? Any credit remains securely on your Tutorful account. You can use it with a new tutor immediately, or keep it for a later date, just ensure you use it within 3 months from the date you received it!
