As you have found yourself here, you must be looking to become a tutor with us, or may have just recently gone live! Tutorful is a fantastic way of teaching students without the usual admin hassles which come with private tuition, as we will help you manage all your bookings and payments so you can focus on what’s really important - teaching!
There are loads of fabulous FAQ’s which go through in detail how the website works, but here is a brief overview of what you should expect when working through Tutorful.
Lessons
All meetings and lessons are always booked through our system to ensure both you and your students receive timely reminders, helping to confirm that each session proceeds as planned. If your tutor profile is live, we strongly recommend downloading our app on your smartphone or tablet. This will simplify managing your bookings and responding to student messages, offering greater flexibility to handle tasks while on the go. This is available on both the App Store and Google Play Store, and it is free to download.
Payments
All payments for lessons go through Tutorful and will be paid directly into your registered bank account by our payment provider, Stripe. We will always take payment from your student 24 hours after each lesson goes ahead, and as Stripe has a 7 day processing period you should always receive this 8 days after the lesson!
Payments may take longer to process in certain situations, such as over weekends, as some banks will process transactions on a Monday morning. Additionally, if there is an issue with a student’s payment, delays may occur. In the event of the latter, please rest assured that we guarantee payment for all lessons that are booked and confirmed in our system. If any payment issues arise, we will proactively reach out to you to resolve the matter.
Jobs
In addition to receiving direct inquiries from new students, you can access requests posted by prospective students on our Jobs board. This platform is a valuable resource for finding new tutoring opportunities and we highly recommend exploring it if you haven’t already, especially if you're looking to expand your student base.
If, however, you're unable to take on new students at the moment, you can opt to go offline. This will temporarily hide your profile from the search results, ensuring it remains preserved in its current position until you're ready to accept new students.
Search result position
Once your profile is live, you will be able to see where you appear in the search results page for your top 10 subjects showing on your dashboard, and these are essentially what we use to rank our tutors in search results. These can give you an idea as to how you have been doing in relation to the enquiries you have received from our students.
This is not something that students can see - they are displayed on your dashboard, only to you, so you can keep an eye on them! You can look here for more information about the signals that contribute to your position in the search results.

Online Teaching
The online classroom is a really useful tool, as every lesson takes place from the comfort of your own home and don’t have to take into account travel times or costs.
