What are Time slots for new students?

Time slots for new students are the weekly times you teach every week. These are the commitment you’re making to teach and not for ad hoc one-offs. 

Can I add one-off Time slots?

No. One-off Time slots have been removed so new students see reliable weekly slots. You can still book or edit a lesson at a different time if it suits you both, and use Time off for exceptions. This was a web-only feature and the app has never supported it, so web and app will now behave the same. 

Can I book lessons outside of my Time slots for new students?

Yes. You can still arrange a lesson at a different time if it suits you and the student. Your Time Slots controls what new students see when they first enquire. Please keep this the exception. If you often teach outside your stated slots, update your availability so families see the right times and we can show you accurately in searches. If repeated mismatches lead to missed or declined lessons, we may follow up and take action.

How are Fortnightly or irregular lessons going to work?

You can still book fortnightly or irregular lessons on Tutorful. If they fall within one of your Time Slots for New Students, that slot will be taken for new-student bookings at that time. If this becomes your regular pattern, update your Time Slots for New Students to reflect it.

What do I do if I'm on holiday?

You can use the ‘Time off’ feature to add in holidays or periods you’re not working such as during Christmas. It blocks those dates so families cannot book them, and your weekly pattern stays the same. 

What happens if my Time off clashes with a recurring lesson?

When you create a weekly series of lessons, we skip any week that overlaps with Time off in your calendar, so there is nothing for you to cancel. The rest of the series books as normal. If you still want a lesson that week, you can book a different time on Tutorful that suits you and the student. If you add Time off after a lesson has already been booked, please reschedule that single occurrence.

What if something comes up at the last minute?
Not a problem! Add Time off for the slot you cannot make to let students know you aren’t available for lessons.
