As a tutor with Tutorful, you'll manage your whole tuition business and that includes how much you charge per hour. We do have some guidelines, though, to help you make the best out of the site.
Sessions vary in price depending on the level of study, subject selected and experience of the tutor. Usually, outside of London, tutors charge between £15-35 with experienced tutors inside London often charging more than this. Outside of London, £15-20 is the rate for inexperienced tutors such as university students and recent graduates. £25-35 is usually for experienced tutors with the higher end usually for qualified teachers.
Our best advice for setting your rate is to consider the guidelines above and then look at what other tutors in your area are charging. Have a look at their qualifications and experience to help decide what a fair rate to charge for yourself would be.
We will look to help you increase your rate once you've taught a few lessons with different students and got some great reviews on your profile. More experienced tutors and qualified teachers can charge up to £35 per hour and beyond as they appear higher up our search results.
Please bear in mind that your rate must include your travel expenses for travelling to sessions within your usual travel radius. This should not be added on top except for in exceptional circumstances (such as when taking on students who are far beyond your usual travel radius) and you should always make sure you communicate this clearly with students.
If you need to change your rate for any reason, the article linked here will show you how to do so.
